Camping is one of America’s greatest outdoor pastimes and now you can enjoy it in you own backyard! Join the Novi Parks Department for an evening of family fun camping at Lakeshore Park. Campers will be able to participate in Oakland County’s Rock Climbing Tower and Adventure Sport Mobile Hooked on Fishing and Geocaching activities! Also enjoy Scout demonstrations, kids crafts & games, miles of hiking and biking trails and of course - marshmallow roasting, s’mores, campfire songs and storytelling! Overnight campers will be included in a drawing to win tents and other prizes from Dick’s Sporting Goods! Breakfast included.
Additional Information: For those who only want to participate in Friday activities from 6-10pm can pay a $5 per car at the entrance. Novi Parks requires adult supervision in all tents.

Fall for Novi with An International Flair

Explore the City of Novi and the world in one stop at the 2008 Fall for Novi with International Flair event held at the Novi Civic Center. Gather valuable information about our city, its services, businesses and resources and enjoy cultural enrichment including ethnic entertainment, cuisine, games, crafts, art, information booths and more. The annual event will also allow you to tour the Police Department, trade your favorite flowers at the semi-annual Perennial Exchange, dispose of your hazardous household waste and up to 100 pounds of secure shredded documents. The ‘Kids Village’ will feature face painting, crafts, games and an inflatable bouncer.

MSU Tollgate Fall Fair

The Tollgate Fall Fair is a free admission, family oriented event held on the third Saturday of September. A full day of children’s crafts, activities, pumpkin painting and presentations on owls, lizards, bats and many other topics are held on site. Hay rides, self guided garden tours, fishing and appearances by the Novi Fire and Police departments are just a few of the fun activities that are part of the fair. Halloween Storybook Stroll

Storybook StrollLet your imagination take you to a far off land where you will trick-or-treat with some of your favorite storybook characters. Your family will enjoy a walk though Lakeshore Park, hayride and an inflatable bouncer. Participants will receive goodie bag, play games, create a unique craft and enjoy snacks. Additional Information: If there is inclement weather, please call the Novi Parks Weather Hotline to see if the event has been moved inside to the Novi Civic Center.

NEW – Howl’oween Parade

Are you and your best friend looking for a fun Halloween activity? Bring your favorite canine friend out for the first annual ‘Howl’oween Parade.’ Yappy-hour pre-parade festivities will include vendor booths, bobbing for Howl’oweenies, photo opportunities, and preliminary canine costume judging. Dogs, and their best friend, will love the doggy bags, activities, demonstrations, trick or treating for milk bones and costume contest! All canines must be people and animal friendly and have proof of current vaccinations.

Calling Superman, Batman, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and all other heroes! Dress your little ones in their favorite princess or super hero outfit and let them create a craft, dance and meet real Princesses who have won a crown and Super Heroes including Veterans and sports stars. Additionally your child will enjoy having their face painted, playing games and eating snacks. Come enjoy a night full of family fun with a fairy tale ending!

Ringing in the Holidays

This annual event just keeps getting better! Enjoy your favorite activities including Santa photos, carriage rides, bouncers, Kids Jingle Bell Jog, marsh mallow roasting/warming areas, tree lighting ceremony and the Electric Light Parade! New warming area activities this year are the Kids Zone Craft Tent, Ringing Restaurant Tent and the Winter Garden Live Entertainment Tent! All activities begin at 6pm. The crowd favorite Electric Light Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony will start at 7:30pm! Electric Light Parade Float Contest

Decorate a float for the annual Ringing in the Holidays Float Competition! Floats will be judged on creativity and holiday spirit. All floats will be displayed downtown during the Electric Light Parade and will be judged by a panel of City Officials. A commemorative plaque will be given to the organization who wins the annual competition! All organizations, businesses and community groups are welcome! Additional Information: All floats must have a minimum of 2000 lights to qualify and must have a holiday theme. Registration forms and rules and regulations available online or at the Novi Parks office. All participants must be registered by Friday Nov 28. 2nd Annual Kids Jingle Bell Jog

Dash into some fun before the annual tree lighting and electric light parade! Each age group will run a different distance: 5 to 6 year olds - 100 yard dash, 7 to 8 year olds - 1/4 mile and 9 to 10 year olds - 1/2 mile. This event is meant to be a fun race to get hearts and spirits soaring into the holidays. Each participant will receive a finisher ribbon, t-shirt and refreshments. Additional Information: Fun Run check in will begin at 5:15pm, white tent at West end of Main Street. Check in and on site registration will close at 6pm. The youngest age group will begin at 6:15pm with the other races immediately following. T-shirt is guaranteed for those registered by Nov 28.

Local organizations and businesses are being challenged to decorate holiday trees for the first annual Ringing in the Holidays Tree Silent Auction! Trees will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Novi Parks Foundation for youth scholarships. All trees will be displayed downtown during Ringing in the Holidays. Bidding will end at 8:30pm. Neighborhood Academy

The Neighborhood Academy gives Novi citizens an opportunity to educate themselves about issues that may by of concern to themselves or their families. Led by City and Community members, each class offers a wealth of information about that topic Upcoming topics include Preventive Medicine in September, Fire Safety in October and Healthy Holidays in November. This bi-monthly seminar features guest speakers who are experts in the fields most important to the business community. Tour Novi

Aerial view of City of NoviIf you are a new resident or would like to learn more about the City of Novi, we are initiating an opportunity for citizens to take a tour of our community. Running roughly 90 minutes, Tour Novi will include a bus tour of City facilities such as Lakeshore Park, the Fire Stations, the Novi Civic Center, as well as some commercial and industrial highlights.
